All the way from Hollywood, CA, David Palmer AKA The Leo King has joined us to talk about using the media (specifically YouTube) to grow a brand. In this episode, we have guest host, Natalia Petraszczuk of VisionBoards.co, interviewing David about the importance of producing daily content, using a subscription model, touring the U.S. to see his fans and how he’s been able to get on national TV numerous times.
When we asked David what was his #1 secret to attaining thousands of subscribers, he said daily content.
“Frequency is everything, because if you do not have content up everyday — somebody else will.”Starting in 2012, David started pushing videos to YouTube from his laptop’s built-in camera. Even with no other equipment, David made it work by ensuring the background, lighting and sound were as good as possible.
“If you know how to present yourself, even if you have cheap equipment, you’ll do well.”
He couldn’t stress enough how consistent you should keep pushing your content. He tells us, “It’s important in social media, to always be current and involved because if one day goes by and you’re not there — that’s when they find someone else. You want to be home to somebody.” But keep it going because “If you’re trying to do something in 2 weeks, it’s not going to happen. Watch yourself after a couple of months and you’ll see some really powerful growth. Keep it consistent.”
David’s message applies to all types of business, “If any startup wants to make it, then producing video will really help you find a way to connect with your fans.”
